LONDON (AFP) - Former Manchester allied and England midfielder Paul Scholes has been appointed bureaucrat of Oldham Athletic, the club announced upon Monday (Feb 11).Scholes, 44, is taking upon his first managerial role, signing a covenant following the club he supported as a boy after spending his entire playing career at obsolete Trafford.The former Premier League club are languishing in mid-table in League Two, the fourth tier of the English game. "Oldham gymnastic are delighted to regard as being footballing legend Paul Scholes as the supplementary first-team bureaucrat upon a one-and-a-half-year-deal," the club said in a statement."I couldn't be any happier at the minute," Scholes told Oldham's attributed website. "It's been a while. Obviously there's been talk of it following I the end my (playing) career."It wasn't something I was quite ready to get and there's obviously been three or four grow old higher than the last six years where it could have happened and I've not been quite ready." Scholes, a supporter of Manchester United's famed "Class of '92" contiguously David Beckham and Ryan Giggs, said he wanted to keep busy Oldham's fans."I want my team to be sharp and focused upon winning first and foremost," he said.
